What Sets The United Truck Sales Service Department Apart From Others?

At United Truck Sales our roots run deep in tractor and heavy truck repair. My grandfather spent his life rebuilding tractor engines and diesel fuel injection pumps in Europe. He passed a long time ago but his shop and tools are still working and rebuilding pumps to this day. My father grew up in my grandfather's shop and spent his youth repairing tractors. He got his degree in mechanical engineering but has spent the majority of his life repairing cars, trucks and tractors. I grew up in my father’s shop. While my degree is in Biochemistry and I haven’t spent much time wrenching, there isn’t a mechanical component that I’m not familiar with. My father and I, along with all of our mechanics, are state licensed in diesel engine repair. Being a heavy truck repair facility, we are required by the State of Michigan to be licensed. This is where the differences between United Truck Sales and the competition start. Tractor and equipment dealerships are not required to employ licensed mechanics. They aren’t regularly inspected by the state. We are!

Let's talk about tools and facilities. Our repair facility is 20,000 square feet. Where others have a floor jack, we have column hoists which can lift 64,000 lbs! That means when it comes time for service, our tech doesn’t have to crawl on the floor and peep up at a tractor to look for a leak. He can lift the whole tractor above his head to see exactly what’s going on! Where others use a cherry picker or a chain fall, we have a 10 ton crane in our building! When it’s time to pull the cab off your tractor for service our crane will make the process infinitely easier and help drastically reduce any risk of damage to the cab! Speaking of cab tractors, what is their biggest draw? Air conditioning! Does your tractor dealer have an AC machine? One capable of safely and legally extracting the refrigerant and properly re-charging the system when repairs are complete? Remember, we work on semi trucks and there isn’t a day in the summer when our techs aren’t performing AC repairs. I’m one to gloat, but you’ll be hard pressed to find a tractor repair facility as well equipped as ours!

Let’s talk about engines and transmissions. Major failure is fairly rare in modern tractors but anything can happen. Every manufacturer offers powertrain warranties but when it comes time to make a claim, who will be doing the repair? At United Truck Sales we do heavy truck engine repair on a daily basis. On average we perform a complete engine rebuild once a week. Turbo chargers? Injectors? Fuel pumps? Cam shafts? Valve adjustments? WE DO THEM ON A DAILY BASIS!

Worried about Tier 4 emissions on tractors? Confused about EGR, DPF and DEF? We’ve been repairing these emissions systems on semi’s since they were first introduced in 2008! Now I will gloat, you will not find ANY tractor dealer with more experience with emissions systems. Ask away!

For anyone interested I’m always available for a tour. There's usually a 15L semi truck engine torn down on our floor with cylinders big enough to put your head in!
